Group Access

Group Access is for two or more independent (e.g., searching on their own for different reasons) primary users. It can also include large groups such as twenty or more people or company-wide access.

Reasons for Getting Group Access
Companies who have signed up for Group Access to the Best Practice Database (or its specialized version, the Pharma & Life Sciences Best Practice Database) had many reasons for getting group access. Among them:
  • Provide a common platform for designing and developing quality, Six Sigma or other process improvement initiatives;
  • High need for benchmark metrics and best practices throughout different departments of the organization;
  • Lack internal resources to conduct benchmarking studies in-house, so use to enhance the benchmarking function;
  • Give Six Sigma black and green belts critical and hard-to-find information for their projects;
  • Allow for multiple librarians or researchers within a corporate information center or library to gain access;
  • Need for a lot of industry trend data for use by consultants working with clients; and
  • Provide a centralized, cost-effective alternative to individuals throughout a company purchasing research reports and studies separately (we can tell you how much individuals in your company have spent with us).
Features of Group Access
  • Group training
  • Usage scorecards
  • Ability to freely rotate users
  • Special group discounts
  • Member support (e.g., search assistance)
Member Success Stories

At one member company, fifteen green and black belts with access to the Best Practice Database reported easier identification of business improvement areas, reduced implementation time and faster return on project investments as a result of the tried and true tactics found from executive interviews and surveys in the Database. Recently, employees from this company used the Database for projects on the following topics: Supply chain relationships; Performance measurement; Customer surveys; Employee development; E-service initiatives; Talent management systems; Interviewing and hiring; Customer relationship management

Another company with ten employees across multiple divisions and countries with Database access used the Database to help its "business on demand" champions gain quick access to primary benchmarking research. These ten leaders -- in areas as diverse as Business Design, Market Intelligence, Strategic Planning, Integrated Supply Chain, Benchmarking and Global Services -- were selected because they work on business process and represent a broad cross-section of benchmarkers from both the corporate and business unit levels. According to the Program Director for IBM Enterprise on Demand Transformation, "As we are moving to the 'On Demand Business,' it is important to know how our processes compare against those of our competitors and understand gaps in performance, what other companies are doing, and what it is that they are measuring."
